Stable Isotope Facilities
Bob Ross: Our Thermo Delta V plus. This mass spec, with attached EA and duel inlet, is setup to measure C, N, S, O, and H isotopes. Just trying to make happy little peaks.
The People's Analyzer: Named after the Rock's signature move - the people's elbow - our Isolink Elemental Analyzer uses two high temperature ovens, interfaced with a ramped GC oven and Conflo IV, to convert solid samples into gases for isotopic analysis. We are currently adapting a microfluorination technique to measure whole rock oxygen isotopes.

Rock Processing Facilities
Shatterbox: A Spex shatterbox, used for crushing samples into powders. We have a number of different containers, including tungsten carbide, alumina ceramic, and steel.
Ball Mill: A Spex Ball mill, used for powder-izing softer samples such as sedimentary rocks and modern sediments. Containers in-house include agate, ceramic, and steel.
Frantz: Potentially the world's oldest Frantz magnetic separator! Used to separate minerals based on magnetic properties.
In addition to the above equipment, we also have access to departmental rock saws, jaw crusher, disc mill, and drill presses.
